many things could be deadly for pets. They had newspaper clippings of
actual stories of animals killed by ingesting these common household
foods and products.

I Really Like the Palm Pre Touchstone Back Cover

I just purchased a touchstone and thought I's share some opinion. I've been looking/waiting for a good case because this little booger is so darn slick and hard to hold on to. I just knew, it was only a matter of time, before I dropped my pre. Not maybe, but when. I just put the back cover on for the touchstone and this thing is great. The matte finish not only looks good, but makes the pre much easier to handle. If you are looking for that little extra grip and don't want to add the bulk of a case or the expense of a touchstone, try getting just the back for 20 bucks.

Then, later, you could buy just the touchstone itself after using the back for a while alone. Just my opinion, hope this helps!

I hate it when people forward bogus warnings and I have even done it myself a couple times unintentionally...

But this one is real and it's important. So please send this warning to everyone on your e-mail list.

If someone comes to your front door saying they are checking for
ticks due to the warm weather and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around with your arms up DO NOT DO IT!! THIS IS A SCAM!!

They only want to see you naked.

I get up this morning, early! I get ready start to walk out the door when my wife calls and asks me to drop some clothes off with my 3 year old for my 8 year olds "holiday" concert this afternoon. I put everything on hold and start looking.

OK, still cheerful!

After my wife tells me where everything is, I gather it together, and get ready to leave. But, I think I should check the bags to make sure everything is accounted for… it's not.

After another phone call, I finally get everything together, get ready to walk out the door and…… the power goes out.

I have to take my 3 year old to her grandmas, leaving the garage door open since we have no power, rush back to the house and try to lock it up.

OK, still cheerful!

Our garage door has to be manually locked from the inside since we have no power and me or my wife carry keys (yeah, I know). Our door actually has two different keys, I grab one, lock the door, walk out and yep, you guessed it, the wrong key.

Hopefully we remembered to give someone a spare or it'll be locksmith time this evening. Oh well, I need to keep in mind the hardships so many people are going through in our country right now. When I look at how bad things could be, I seem to feel blessed to have: a house to get locked out of, a great wife to call me for a favor, two healthy beautiful girls that are the apples of daddies eye and a job to be late for.

Last nights Metallica show rocked! But there's always a but...

First off, last night’s Metallica concert at Scottrade Center in St. Louis rocked! You simply can't go wrong with hard rock, lasers and pyrotechnics. The band played in the round, moving around the stage to pre-set microphones, giving every fan in the joint a chance to see them in their full metal glory. The drum set turned a quarter turn throughout the evening to let Lars Ulrich cater to that part of the arena for a portion of the show. They sounded tight, and played a lot of the older stuff some fans felt the group had lost touch with in the past. That isn't surprising with the more simplistic, back to basics approach the band has taken with the new album Death Magnetic.

There is a little more to what I had a chance to see last night. Security was everywhere. Not looking for the rebel rousers, one hitters or whiskey filled flasks, no.... They were looking for cell phones, cameras and video devices. They also had many different levels of security. There were your standard ushers, you had the venue security, the band had security and last but not least, St. Louis' finest men in blue. I watched security take a ladies camera between acts with the house lights up. After much begging and pleading, she finally convinced the guard to give her the camera back, but not without some harsh words, stern looks and finger pointing. My wife, also between acts with house lights on, was sending a text from her phone when one of the bands goons approached and informed, if the phone comes out during the show, Metallica will ask you to leave. Now I enjoyed Metallica's performance immensely, but the show was sometimes overshadowed by the ruckus going on between fans, security and cell phones. There were a few instances of security moshing through the general admission floor patrons to mightily demand a fan put down his or her cell phone and stop recording. A kid, around 15 or so I'd say, there with his parents had the misfortune of trying to snap a pic of the band with his digital camera, only to have pre-mature flashulation and cause security to come rushing over demanding the camera. Poor kid, I don't even think he got a shot off. Again, more pleading from his mom and they backed off, only to have a St. Louis police officer come over and give a verbal smack down. Well, I don't know what he really said, but I'm sure it wasn't pleasant by the expressions on the faces of both parties involved.

You know, I understand the pirating concerns bands are dealing with in this new digital age. But, this was a little over board of you ask me. Bands like these better be careful, since one thing I noticed was the lack of youth in the audience. No new generation of Metallica fans waiting to fill the voids of us old farts that have a hard time staying up past 10. Snapping a grainy pic with a cell phone of your favorite band hardly seems to be the criminal offence it has been made out to be. Kids are smart about this stuff Aand they'll bail on you as a fan if you make yourself out to be a tool. They just forked out 80 bucks for a ticket, 20 bucks to park and 15 bucks for a hot dog and soda. Now, you want to throw them out over a 1.5 megapixel photo taken in the dark? Hopefully the new Guitar Hero: Metallica will help launch the band to a younger audience, for the bands sake. I do believe there were tickets available to last night’s show right up until start time.

Social Media and Me

I have been dabbling around for a few months in this social media world trying to figure out where things lay, and the best way a terrestrial radio station could utilize services like Twitter, Plurk, Brightkite, and Jaiku to just name a few. I must admit, I am finding it difficult to find useful information for the social media novice like myself. I do, in fact, see the potential for businesses to get involved in such media ventures. My issues arise when trying to decipher what the social media communities want and/or can handle.

I get confused when I see a post by a major Plurk advocate to all social media A-listers to stay away if they aren’t going to be social enough on Plurk. If you are going to use this network, you must get involved with the conversations, not simply provide information. I looked at this Plurk advocates profile, and they have 178 friends and 159 fans. For you non-plurkers, that means he sees the timelines or posts for his 178 friends, but the 159 fans only see what he posts, he doesn’t see what they post (I have been fanned by the way). That just doesn’t seem to be very social from someone with such precise Plurk rules for social activity. This is enough to scare the daylights out of newbies and/or businesses that are looking to jump into the Plurk waters. Why would I subject myself or my company to such a social scrutiny?

Twitter seems to be the most useable and the easiest to follow when it comes to sharing information. I believe this is due in part to the many apps available for desktops and mobile phones. New ones pop up almost daily and there are a few that look very promising for a company to follow it’s customers with minimal effort on the part of the companies customer service department. The folks using Twitter also seem to be more open to receiving information and not necessarily having deep, meaningful interactions. The biggest issue for Twitter at this time is keeping the site up. Constant outages, downtime and errors have some avid Twitter users at wits end. This is a tough problem to overcome if a person or business is relying on Twitter to brand their product.

Brightkite is a location based network that will actually map you based on the location that you provide. It will also map friends, and strangers, that have logged in around your location. This service somewhat intrigues me with what it has to offer radio. It could be used to help listeners find their favorite radio station’s on site remotes and broadcasts.

Many of the other sites are in beta right now and are only available by invitation. That limits the ability to truly gauge the performance and personality of the networks.

So this is what I have learned so far in this crazy on line social world. Please feel free to correct, lead, guide or follow me. Any and all opinions are honored and welcomed.

I am just trying to get my new blog up and running. I am new to this, so please be patient. Also, I am open to comments, good and bad, and any advice any of you seasoned bloggers would like to provide.
